Our Mission in the service of that vision is to:
- Consistently implement antiracist, culturally responsive pedagogical and instructional strategies
- Pioneer research-based and innovative practices
- Teach social emotional and academic competencies
- Support our teachers as advanced professionals
- Refine our dual language program
- Provide language and cultural opportunities to every community member
- Initiate and enhance community partnerships
- Engage families in the academic lives of their children
The mission of the PTU is to strengthen the BMPV community through fellowship, advocacy, funding, and special projects.
The PTU hosts meetings once a month. We meet to stay connected as a community, to share progress of PTU projects, to hear from families, and to find ways to collaborate. Click the link below to find out more.
Local School Advisory Teams are a key lever to increasing transparency at DCPS and ensuring decisions affecting school communities are made collaboratively with the help of a diverse group of school stakeholders. As such, every District of Columbia public school must have a functioning LSAT that is constituted according to the LSAT Guidelines, and that conducts the business outlined therein.
The Local School Advisory Team (LSAT) is a group of elected and appointed members that exists for every DCPS school. The team (formerly the Local School Restructuring Teams) consists of parents, teachers, non-instructional school staff, a community member, and in some cases students, to advise the principal on matters that promote high expectations and high achievement for all students.

All hats and caps must be removed immediately upon entering the school building and may not be worn in school unless special permission has been obtained from the Principal. Bullying has become a serious issue with young people nationwide. It affects students at every level, from elementary to high school. In an effort to proactively address the issue of bullying the District of Columbia Public Schools has created a Bullying Prevention Policy. The policy lays out clearly, the definition of bullying and the steps required by schools to address it. The entire policy is available to download below. Click below for more information.
